This distressed Mason jar canister set is the perfect gift to give my mom for my birthday.
Yes, MY birthday and it’s about 2 months before hers.
I decided years ago that after I turned a certain age, I should be the one giving to her on my birthday.
These are handmade as opposed to be manufactured in an assembly line. The crafter/artist hand paints them the color you choose.
It looks like there are maybe over 60 colors to choose from. The one in the picture is painted ivory.
After painting and making it look old, she seals it. The inside is left clean and free from chemicals so food will be safe in them. She glues rings to the lids to create an airtight seal.
The capacities are 64 ounces (half gallon), 32 ounces (1 quart), and the smaller two are both 16 ounces (1 pint). One is squatty, that’s why it looks smaller than the other one.
Even though my mom is not so into country decor any more, she would still like this. I think just taking the string off would turn it from rustic and country to any kitchen decor.
The artist does a good job of making it look old without making it look bad. I have seen some that are overdone in that department.
I like that combination of pretty and practical. The jars are going to look good in our kitchen and each will have an airtight seal that is easy to use.
Now I need to decide on a color my mom would like. 🙂
