Don’t you think that hand carved wooden bowls give an old world charm to a home? These pieces of functional art are handmade by skilled artisans in many countries, including India, Thailand and here in the United States.
Often called root artisans, they believe that root artworks must first be practical, then beautiful. They use roots and bark from many trees including mango, mahogany, rosewood, camphor, fir and boxwood.
When you buy any piece of root art, you are helping to support these dying arts and crafts as well as the artist.
Each of these are beautifully unique. No two are the same. They are also useful for serving food and eating out of. Some are sanded and then a food safe coating is applied. To help preserve their resistance to bacteria, they should only be hand washed.
Being unique and not mass produced like many things we buy, the quantities are limited and therefore, no reviews on some. So I looked at the companies behind them. I looked at other things they sell and see that the reviews are really good.
So these items below, I am confident that any problems will be rare. IF you do have problems, they will be handled appropriately either by that company or Amazon.
You will see when you go to Amazon that some of them do have reviews and they are great. A funny thing I read on one of the reviews: “very pretty bowl and almost too good for the nut bowl I will be using it for.” 🙂
